iPhone 11 Pro Review: Apple's triple-lens camera system got me. It's that good.

iPhone 11 Pro Review

what's up guys and gals Bryan Chong here

and we are all here for one thing

the iPhone 11 Pro review now I'm not

gonna go into every single detail here

but really cover the big stuff and

things that stick out about this phone

that just matter to me because look I

don't get an early review unit I get one

on the same day that you all do I pay

for it with my own money but I'd like to

take some time to really see how I feel

from day one and then after all the

excitement of iPhone day wears off but

I'm gonna tell you right now this phone

has really surprised me and you might

have seen my earlier video how I claim

that the 20/20 iPhone is really the one

to get because that's where we're gonna

see Apple take that just big next jump

and that still holds true for most

people but Apple's improvements with the

camera and the battery are the two

standouts for longtime

iPhone users with this model and yes

we've seen the photo comparisons we've

seen all that night mode stuff and it's

all important image quality is

absolutely the most important thing and

the iPhone delivers with its realistic

colors and some of the best images from

a smartphone camera but competition is

fierce these days so what really stands

out about the triple lens camera to me

is the UI and how smooth it is to use

compared to any other camera system on a

phone right now and this is special if

you're a real camera freak who has to

have the best a phone can offer but it

also makes a difference if you're an

everyday user who likes to take photos

here and there so we know about the

triple lens you'll have your main go to

the 12 megapixel wide 26 millimeter F 1

point 8 aperture lens that lets the most

light into the camera of the group there

are other cameras out there with the

larger aperture and higher megapixels

like the Huawei p3 Pro we also have the

new all new 12 megapixel ultra wide 13

millimeter lens with F 2.4 aperture and

let's the least light in and it does not

have optimal image stabilization but

this is a first for the iPhone it'll

give you more options with the types of

photos and videos you take just like it

has for other phones then we have the 12

megapixel telephoto 52 millimeter lens

it has a larger have 2.0 aperture this

year and this is for your zoom

in two times photos it's probably the

one though that you and I end up using

the least of the bunch and that's why I

feel like most people will really just

be fine with the wide and ultra wide

lens on an iPhone 11 so now we have

these three lenses finally on an iPhone

in yes it completely sucks to get this

stuff over a year later compared to the

competition but apple's user experience

and the camera UI is so slick here it

really feels like you're using a single

lens on a phone but it's three I mean

this is special the camera app smoothly

transitions between each lens as you

bounce between each one you can also

scroll left or right and the phone

transitions again between each lens

depending on how far you want to zoom in

or zoom out it's it's just nice now

let's look at the Galaxy Note 10.1 a

phone based on its image quality and

it's great-looking wide angle lens

compared to the competition it's 16

megapixel wide-angle lens is arguably

better than the iPhone 11 pros depending

on who you ask but check out these

screen caps when I'm using the interface

for both camera lens systems the Galaxy

Note 10.1 Pro on the right when I'm

switching between the lenses you can see

there's a stutter or moments between

each lenses on the note 10 but on the

iPhone you can just see it really

seamlessly go from one to another and it

just smoothly transitions so then when I

scroll through the different lenses

instead of selecting them individually

look at this the note it just chokes up

on itself so we have the ease of use how

smooth it really is it matters and it

makes a difference in how it feels to

use a triple lens camera and I just

remember instantly thinking oh dang like

this is awesome this is just so smooth I

didn't expect that to happen

but Apple you got me they're like this

is definitely a good Apple and the 11pro

feels like it's just one

[Music]

now you might think that the lens

arrangement on the rear looks ugly I

mean I called it the eye stove I still

think it's not that attractive but

there's a reason behind this when you

switch between the lenses that it feels

like it's the same lens because of how

their reins are really bunch close

together the perspective doesn't really

change like it does with phones that

have the camera lenses all in a row

spread out so that cluster try phobia

inducing iPhone 11 Pro camera it

actually works to our benefit now the

most talked about all iPhone 11 pro and

pro max feature for the mainstream

consumer will probably be night mode and

it's great Google is gonna have to show

us what they do with their next-gen but

I do feel Apple's night mode would

perform better in really really dark

situations the images just weren't as

gritty compared to Google's pixel I've

loved Google's night sight from the

start but the iPhone team you know they

got some time to see what they were

working up against and they absolutely

improved it now portrait mode it's

improved to work on more things that

aren't faces like my hand you put it out

there you see the detail around it so

I've just found this a lot more

effective with food just everything in

general it's really good and then

probably the biggest issue that I have

with a camera app is why did they take

away the option to take a square photo

it used to be on that bottom on the menu

it was just one more option what are you

doing and know when we talk about photos

and cameras I will not do a slow fee

okay fine just for the review

are you happy now yeah you are now

bottom line the pictures look great and

image quality is still subjective to a

certain degree on phones some people

prefer photos with higher contrast

boosted colors like Samsung does some

people prefer colors that are warmer

versus cooler and you can always edit

them the note 10 and the pixel are still

at the top of my list for photos but the

iPhone 11 pro absolutely belongs with

that top group and what stood out to me

the most is that this is become special

with how superior the camera UI is it is

flawless it flows like butter I

absolutely love it

now initial reviews are speaking so

highly about this phone because it's

primarily coming from content creators

who got it first and it's from their

perspective that they want and need the

tools that allow them to do their jobs

the best so it makes sense the reality

is that probably over 80% of them use

iPhone as their daily driver phone but

every time there's this new big product

launch I try to make a music video

parody that you're gonna be able to

watch on my channel but during the video

shoot we use this and it just impressed

me at every level we shot this whole

damn music video thing on just an iPhone

11 Pro with my buddy Jay Julio and we

specifically chose to just use the

iPhone 11 Pro there were no special

add-on lenses we just used the native

camera app so we did not use filmic Pro

we set it to 24 frames per second on 4k

video and anyone can do that by going

into the camera settings in iOS the only

tool we had was the DJI Osmo mobile 3

it's their new super portable foldable

gimbal for stabilization that's 120

bucks and no that's not an ad I wish it

was but we just want to show you like

how minimal the setup was with just two

guys so we went out to the calico ghost

town it's this old west mining town

about two and a half hours outside of LA

we just this iPhone 11 Pro and the DJI

Osmo mobile 3 we didn't know it really

exactly what to expect there were no

fancy lights there's no other equipment

we didn't bring a crew of people it was

just two dudes and the results were

amazing the ultra wide lens made such a

huge difference with just like the type

of shots we were able to get so make

sure you check out that iPhone 11 Pro

music video where you know I'm general

proud of it but it shows you what's

possible with this freaking phone in

your pocket and when you create

something like that I think it just

really creates almost an emotional

attachment to it and how you feel about

it but what might even be more

impressive with this new iPhone 11 Pro

how about the battery life like they

obviously made huge improvements with

the 11pro that now gets four hours more

compared to the 10s and then the 11 Pro

max that gets five hours more than the

10s max the phones are slightly thicker

and way heavier than last year I say

bring it on because what's the number

one thing that we've been asking Apple

for longer battery life like stop making

these damn phones so slim because that's

not what we want and I can tell you I've

never had a better battery experience in

an iPhone before ever like I thought the

10r was the benchmark I had one and it's

why I loved it but the iPhone 11 pro is

just better and any iPhone user that

ends up upgrading is gonna love this one

almost purely because of its battery

life

I really got to see how it held up like

no phone had before again during our

music video shoot we shot roughly five

and a half hours five plus hours

straight we shot all 4k video we left

the iPhone 11 Pro on pretty much the

entire time whether we're recording or

just using the screen to verify the

shots or just left it on between shots

while we're moving around it was a 90

degree day in Yermo California right the

Sun was hitting us the entire time at no

point did the iPhone 11 Pro ever

overheat or shut down to cool itself

which I thought might happen there were

two instances where it told us it gave

us a warning that we couldn't use the

phone's flash because it was too hot but

look we put in easily five plus hours in

the heat with the screen on almost the

entire time in this 90 degree weather

recording 4k video and at the end of the

day I still had 26% battery left on this

freakin iPhone 11 Pro that is damn

impressive and we can always hear the

numbers Apple throws at us but in a real

world situation like this that most

older phones I mean easily would have

just overheated or lost power at least

maybe around the three four hour mark

using that much juice the iPhone 11 pro

is a beast the iPhone 11 pro max is

gonna be even a bigger beast and

longtime owners of the iPhone are gonna

just wonder like why has an apple

done this sooner but you got to give a

big shout out to them and the a13 Bionic

processor that like makes this all

happen

[Music]

now one small now I get that does stand

out to me is the speakers on this iPhone

they're absolutely better you can hear

from day one I'm not looking for like a

home theater quality sound for my iPhone

but the speaker quality is significantly

better and it's great I love that the

biggest thing that frustrates to me

about this iPhone though is it's not the

knotch

which I'll always hate or the lack of a

headphone jack which they got rid of

I've decided to stop complaining about

that but Apple getting rid of 3d touch

this year you know if you've watched my

videos you know how much I love it

and I miss it even more as time has gone

on the long press just accomplishes the

same thing but it's not nearly as fast

it takes longer to use your phone and

I'm getting used to just kind of almost

changing the way I use my phone and I

know know most people like you didn't

even use it or you didn't even know 3d

touch was there but I get that it would

cost more for Apple to keep that

technology well probably 90% of their

user base wasn't even using it but I

still loved everything about it I wish

Apple did support it but it's gone and I

won't complain about it again being it's

got beaten that it's gone but it's just

one of those things that I miss the most

about on the iPhone 11 Pro now the other

big problem with the iPhone 11 pro is

the fact that an entry-level pro phone

still comes with freaking 64 gigs of

storage like I know this the first rule

problem we're all lucky to have these

amazing devices in our pockets but 64

gigs to start that's just a joke like

it's a damn shame an apple needs to stop

being Apple at the very least hey this

is the little to ask 128 gigs for an

entry-level pro iPhone like it's not

even that hard Apple so alright we look

at this thing

what's my verdict I've been talking

pretty highly about the iPhone 11 Pro

and honestly this thing surprised me

apples been trailing significantly from

a tech standpoint compared to the

competition but when that ecosystem has

you in once you finally get some of

these things that

yeah I've been out for a year you've

always wanted them but then you got this

level of polish and finesse that's there

it's the Apple polish it makes a

difference and I'm coming from having an

iPhone 10

I absolutely did not upgrade to a tennis

and then I had constant camera lens

shattering issues and end up not being

repairable anymore for the past six

months so that was part of why I got

this and why I wanted to see is it worth

it but just because I'm loving this

iPhone and I do love it it doesn't mean

that I'm telling everyone to just go out

and buy one right away people that have

upgraded I know you you already knew

you're gonna upgrade on day one but what

if you're still deciding right I think

there's a little twisted reality because

many of the people reviewing these

phones they upgrade their phones every

year no matter what but that's not a

realistic option for most people I've

even skipped a couple iPhone upgrades in

the past years after my reviews so if

you're the person who wants the best

camera available to you on an iPhone and

arguably the best camera system and I

say that as like a whole complete

solution the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 pro

max is worth upgrading to now if you're

completely happy with your current

iPhone whatever it is if it's a tennis

tennis max

1010 r87 whatever it is and you don't

have any urgency to do it don't upgrade

but you know I'm gonna push you real

hard to finally do it in 2020 and like I

said I had a broken ten it also allowed

me to use a 10 art and see just how

valuable and amazing a phone that is I

still think most people are better off

saving the money and buying an iPhone 11

that has the new ultra wide lens and the

standard wide lens because that's what

you can use the most the telephoto lens

that zooms in is it's kind of honestly

one that you could go without but most

people won't even really notice a real

difference also when it comes to screens

from an 11 to an 11 Pro unless you hold

them side-by-side like yes I know

there's a different Oh Edie LCD but when

I had the 10r

I didn't miss having an OLED screen at

all and I got that extra battery life so

that's my iPhone 11 Pro review it's all

about this complete camera experience

that makes it special

if you prioritize for a photography and

video with your iPhone but it's still

not like a must-have for everyone the

iPhone battery life for longtime users

oh this is gonna feel like a

game-changer to them I know it kind of

sounds sad but it will and I'll tell you

I was really surprised by the real

day-to-day performance and experience

that this new iPhone gave me as a

content creator so there are plenty of

things I didn't cover here but I wanted

to go deep into what made the most

impact to me

and my experience you know I'd love to

hear your experience if the iPhone 11:11

Pro or 11 Pro max was worth upgrading

for you or not and what phone do you

currently have because I think that

really makes a difference too I read
